Audubon House - Key West ghost tours

Audubon House – Key West ghost tours

Key West ghost tours are a great way to explore and to hear more about the strange history and culture of the island. A lot of people believe that all of the ghost stories are not true and that they were made up juts to attract more tourists. The truth is that the island lives from the tourists – the more tourists come, the more money the island will make. This is why many people believe that many of the Miami to Key West ghost tour stories are not real. But does this stand for all the stories?

You are always encouraged to take pictures or videos of houses and places that you will be able to visit on the tour. Who knows, maybe you will be the first person who will actually take a picture of one real ghost!?

Some local swore to have seen a man dressed in a long jacket and ruffled shirt standing on the entry of the Audubon House. Many of them believe that it was John James Audubon, who visited Key West in 1832. He never slept over on the island but was rather sleeping on his boat. The reason he used to come to Key West is to collect different bird species.

Many locals believe that he is back to hunt more birds. But maybe this is not the only reason why he is back on the island. According to another story, people believe that John James Audubon is the Lost Dauphin – the son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. After his mother had been beheaded he was smuggled out of France and adopted by Jean Audubon.

DNA testing has been done, and this story was proven to be just a legend.  But until today, a lot of monarchists in France still have the opinion of him being the Lost Dauphin.

Obviously we will never know the truth, as Audubon took the secret to his grave.

The same as this, there are many other interesting Key West ghost tours. Some of them are scarier than the others, but even if you are not a believer, it is guaranteed that you will have fun.

Along many of the Key West ghost tours you might even discover that the hotel you are staying at is haunted, and several of them have been reported to have ghosts. For some people ghost stories are not that fun. But don’t worry, as until today it was never reported that some “ghost” made harm to any of the visitors on the island.

Key West ghost tours are available every night. The tours last around 90 minutes, and they are not very expensive as well – $18 per adult and $12 for a child. It is strongly recommended that you make reservations at least one day before on the Key West’s Original Ghost Tour’s website as space is limited. The Key West’s Original Ghost Tour was founded by David L. Sloan who is the author of one famous book about paranormal – The Ghosts of Key West.
